The index closed 7.06 points higher after gaining 15.23 points in the previous session.
Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange increased by 11% to VND15.577 trillion (US$611.9 million).
The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 20 tickers gained.
POW of electricity producer Petrovietnam Power Corporation gained 4.1%, BID of state-owned lender BIDV went up 3.2%, and TCB of private lender Techcombank rose 2.6%.
Six blue chips fell. VRE of retail real estate arm Vincom Retail saw a 1.8% decline, BVH of insurance company Bao Viet Holdings slid 1.3%, and MWG of electronics retail chain Mobile World closed 0.8% lower.
Foreign investors were net seller to the tune of VND533 billion, mainly selling VRE of Vincom Retail and FPT of IT giant FPT Corporation.
The HNX-Index for stocks on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, home to mid and small caps, rose 0.26%, while the UPCoM-Index for the Unlisted Public Companies Market went up 0.32%.
