Vietnam's benchmark VN-Index fell 0.11% to 1,303.16 points Tuesday after reaching a two-year peak Monday.

The index closed 1.4 points lower, having gained 7.8 points in the previous session to reach the highest since June 2022.

Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange decreased by 7% to VND19.57 trillion (US$767 million).

The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 18 tickers fell.

BVH of insurance company Bao Viet Holdings led the decline with a 2.6% drop, followed by VNM of dairy giant Vinamilk, down 1.4%.

FPT of IT giant FPT Corporation, GVR of Vietnam Rubber Group and HDB of HDBank each lost 1.1%.

Nine blue chips rose, with BCM of Becamex Investment and Industrial Development posting the largest gain of 2.8%.

MBB of lender MB went up 1.7% while MSN of conglomerate Masan Group closed 1.2% higher.

Foreign investors were net sellers to the tune of VND339 billion, mainly selling FPT and HDB.

The HNX-Index for stocks on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, home to mid and small caps, fell 0.07%, while the UPCoM-Index for the Unlisted Public Companies Market went down 0.24%.
