Prices of highest-grade Monthong durians rose by 3.5% to VND150,000 (US$5.9) per kilogram on Saturday in the Mekong Delta, one of Vietnam's largest durian-producing regions.

They were stable at around VND145,000 per kilogram in the Central Highlands, another top durian producer.

Ri6 durian prices also remained firm at VND125,000 per kilogram in both regions.

Export prices of the Ri6 variety and the Thai cultivar were unchanged at VND152,000 and VND179,000 per kilogram, respectively.

The Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang currently has the highest durian output in the country, at 386,724 tons annually, according to the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Some 155 growing areas in the province are certified for export, with a total of over 6,900 hectares dedicated to the fruit.
