The head and managing director of ride-hailing Grab’s fintech arm, GrabFin, has been sentenced to 12 days in jail for drunk driving.

Wong Wenbin, 42, received the sentence Thursday for causing an accident in August last year while having almost double the prescribed limit of alcohol in his system, according to the Straits Times.

He was also fined $5,000 and banned from driving for three years.

Wong in the evening of August 17 last year drank two glasses of red wine and was driving home at around 12.50 a.m. the next day when he plunged his BMW into a traffic light.

He had previous records of speeding and failing to stop at a red light.

During the trial, Wong’s lawyer sought a 120-hour of community service in lieu of a jail term, but was denied.
