The U.S. dollar rose against the Vietnamese dong Thursday morning as it returned to a one-year high globally.

Vietcombank sold the dollar at VND25,504, 0.008% higher than Wednesday.

The State Bank of Vietnam raised its reference rate by 0.008% to VND24,290.

The dollar was sold 0.27% higher at VND25,720 on the black market.

It has risen 4.34% against the dong since the beginning of the year.

Globally the U.S. dollar revisited a one-year high against major peers on Thursday, as a fourth straight winning session from momentum sparked by Donald Trump's election victory eclipsed a rise in bets for Federal Reserve easing, Reuters reported.

The U.S. dollar index, which measures the currency against six top counterparts including the euro and yen, added 0.1% to 106.55, having earlier touched 106.56 for the first time since November of last year.
