Keppel has expanded its "Bytes for Future" initiative to Dong Nai Province, providing digital learning resources to more than 1,200 students and bringing the program's total reach in Vietnam to over 2,000 beneficiaries.

The initiative, in collaboration with Tien Phong newspaper, will benefit students at Nguyen Hue A High School and Thanh Binh Primary School in Binh Long Ward, Dong Nai Province.

The launch ceremonies, held at both schools on Sept. 9, were officiated by Tran Van Tuan, Vice President of the Binh Long Ward People's Committee, Dong Nai Province, and Lim Kay Siong, Head of Asset Operations Management, Vietnam, Real Estate, Keppel.

Nguyen Hue A High School and Thanh Binh Primary School have long faced resource constraints, particularly a shortage of modern computers critical for developing students' digital skills. To help address this, Keppel donated 60 computers and more than 900 books, significantly improving students' access to technology and learning resources. At Thanh Binh Primary School, Keppel also funded a new roof and upgraded the IT classroom, creating a more conducive environment for teaching and learning.

According to Lim Kay Siong, digital literacy is vital for young people to thrive in today's increasingly connected world. Through the "Bytes for Future" initiative, Keppel aims to empower students from underserved communities with the tools and environment they need to learn, grow, and unlock their potential.

"We are pleased to bring the program to Dong Nai Province and hope it will make a lasting impact by enriching learning experiences and opening doors to future opportunities for the students," Lim said.

"While we have invested in infrastructure for teaching and learning information technology, these efforts still fall short of fully meeting the needs of schools in remote areas," said Tran Van Tuan, Vice President of the Binh Long Ward People's Committee. "Therefore, the computers from the ‘Bytes for Future' program are a truly meaningful gift from Keppel to Nguyen Hue A High School and Thanh Binh Primary School. They will undoubtedly motivate the schools to continue their journey of bringing information technology closer to students."

Bui Quoc Viet, Principal of Thanh Binh Primary School, emphasized that the school is located in a remote border area where infrastructure and resources for IT education remain limited. "That's why the practical support from Keppel and Tien Phong newspaper through the ‘Bytes for Future' program is truly invaluable," he said.

Dao Nguyen Binh, Principal of Nguyen Hue A High School, added: "The practical donations, including computers and books, have helped ease our difficulties and created more favorable conditions for both teachers and students in teaching and learning, especially in accessing information technology, a field critically important in the digital era."

Launched in 2024, Keppel's "Bytes for Future" initiative aims to equip the next generation with the tools and knowledge to thrive in a digital world. In its first year, the program supported more than 800 students in Tay Ninh Province through the donation of 80 computers, air conditioners, and books.
