Hai Giang Peninsula in Quy Nhon is emerging as a new destination for domestic and international tourism, thanks to various advantages in infrastructure and natural resources.

As a priority investment area, Hai Giang inherits the advantages of Binh Dinh Province's infrastructure networks with international connectivity.

Binh Dinh in the south central coast is considered an ocean gateway for the whole region with a coastline of 134 kilometers. The marine economy has therefore been chosen as the spearhead sector of the province, featuring sea tourism and logistics with a system of deep-water ports.

Hai Giang Peninsula is close to Quy Nhon international port, which is among the four largest ports in Vietnam. The port is the gateway to the East Sea, the Central Highlands, and countries in the Mekong sub-region.

Quy Nhon port features 10 routes connecting international commercial ports like Manila, Singapore, Bangkok, and Tokyo. Kra Canal in Thailand would help connect the Indian Ocean with the East Sea.

This new canal will replace the Strait of Malacca, shortening the maritime route by 1,200 kilometers and two days of travelling.

Besides its seaport development strategy, a transport infrastructure network has been planned to improve regional and international connectivity. Photo by ???

Some arterial roads have been upgraded like the Nhon Hoi economic axis extending to Phu Cat Airport; Thi Nai 2 and Thi Nai 3 bridges connecting Nhon Hoi with key routes; and National Highway No. 1A, as well as a 120-kilometer coastal road with an investment of more than $105 million.

Binh Dinh has made a proposal to invest in the construction of Quy Nhon-Pleiku Expressway. The expressway is expected to promote socioeconomic development of the south-central and Central Highlands regions.

National Highway No. 19, which is more than 240 kilometers long, is also being upgraded. This, coupled with other roads, will open the door for connecting Binh Dinh with Central Highlands provinces, as well as neighboring countries, leading to the development of tourism, real estate, and other projects.

Phu Cat Airport is receiving more attention from leaders at all levels regarding its upgrade to an international airport. It will feature a three-fold increase in scale to handle four million passengers and 50,000 tons of cargo per year.

In January 2020, Phu Cat welcomed the first international commercial flight after the launch of the T2 terminal with an area of nearly 3,000 square meters. With regards to the expansion plan, Phu Cat will open more direct flights to potential countries. Tourists from South Korea, Thailand, and Japan can travel to Phu Cat on direct flights soon.

An international destination

Tran Dinh Thien, director of the Institute of Economics, has repeatedly emphasized that Binh Dinh has great advantages in terms of resources, people, and cultural identity to develop the tourism sector and become a globally competitive destination.

A bright spot in Quy Nhon's high-class tourism picture is Hai Giang Peninsula, which takes advantage of the diverse international connectivity of the coastal city.

Located on the peninsula, the MerryLand Quy Nhon resort and entertainment complex is a spotlight. Developed by Hung Thinh Group, the resort is set to become a "world-class commercial and tourism peninsula city", with 15 luxury subdivisions and a variety of accommodation products.

To the complex with international standards, the investor has cooperated with nearly 20 famous global brand names like Steelman Partners, Marriott, Laservision, and others.

Hai Giang Peninsula also boasts a luxury marina. This will be the place to welcome high-class tour groups from the largest superyachts in Southeast Asia. It will be a destination that attracts a large number of domestic and foreign tourists.
