Materials for the production of Covid-19 test strips are now exempt from import taxes, according to a finance ministry decision of Sept. 30.

The materials include aluminum bags (used to store test kits), test strip covers, sample tubes, tube holders, and nasopharyngeal and nasal swab samplers.

According to the previous decision issued early last year, tax-free imported goods for Covid-19 prevention did not include materials for test strip production, but medical masks, antiseptic hand sanitizers, and raw materials for the production of medical masks, antiseptic water, protective clothes and other medical supplies.

Vietnam reported 5,477 infections Saturday, bringing the total to more than 798,600 since the fourth wave of Covid-19 starting April 27, according to the Health Ministry.

Nationwide, over 33.5 million people have been vaccinated at least once.
