It accounted for 15.6 percent of 622 deaths, said the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs.
Manufacturing for construction, such as steel and cement, and textiles were second with 10.7 percent of fatalities, followed by mining with 10.6 percent.
While the number of workplace accidents dropped by 8.5 percent last year from 2017 to 7,090, the number of injured female workers increased by 6.9 percent to 2,489.
Forty six percent of workplace accidents occurred due to employers’ faults such as not creating a safe working procedures or not providing safety training or equipment.
Accidents also caused loss to property of VND5 billion ($215,400) in 2018.
