Vietnam CEOs got $100K average salary: study

CEOs of listed companies earned an average of VND2.5 billion ($100,700) last year, with those in property and financial services heading the list.

A study by financial data providers FiinGroup and FiinRatings said the top earner was Nguyen Thi Thu Huong of industrial property developer Kinh Bac City with an income of VND17 billion.

The top 15 CEOs earned between VND5.4 billion VND17 billion.

CEOs in the property sector earned an average of VND4.9 billion, followed by those in financial services (mostly stock brokerages), insurance, healthcare, and consumer goods.

CEOs of businesses with a market capitalization of VND25 trillion or higher earned an average of VND3.8 billion, 52% higher than the average.

Those in private companies earned twice as much as those in state-owned businesses.

The study considered 200 public companies that accounted for nearly 86% of the market cap at Vietnam’s three exchanges as of 2023-end.

Income included salaries, bonuses and allowances but not ESOP, reward shares and other benefits.
