Vietnam's benchmark VN-Index fell 2.18% to 1,254.12 points Monday, lowest since May 14.

The index closed 27.90 points lower after dropping 0.28 points in the previous session.

Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange increased by 48% to VND31.82 trillion ($1.25 billion).

The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 28 tickers fell.

SSB of SeABank dropped 4.8%, followed by GVR of Vietnam Rubber Group, down 4.5%.

TPB of private TPBank declined by 3.9% and STB of Ho Chi Minh City-based lender Sacombank closed 3.8% lower.

POW of electricity producer Petrovietnam Power Corporation was the only blue chip that closed with a 2% gain.

Foreign investors were net sellers to the tune of VND927 billion, mainly selling FPT of IT giant FPT Corporation and NLG of real estate developer Nam Long Investment Corp.

The HNX-Index for stocks on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, home to mid and small caps, fell 1.89%, while the UPCoM-Index for the Unlisted Public Companies Market went down 1.52%.
