A private zoo owned by the son of Asia’s richest man Mukesh Ambani has acquired all animals lawfully despite activists’ accusation of violations, Indian investigators have found.

The investigation team, appointed by India’s Supreme Court, confirmed Monday that there was "no foul play" in the management of the Vantara zoo, which is controlled by Anant Ambani, according to the BBC.

Vantara, home to 2,000 species, including elephants, tigers and other animals, said the investigation had made clear "the doubts and allegations... were without any basis."

The 3,500-hectare zoo is located in the Indian western state of Gujarat and not far from Mukesh Ambani's oil refinery - which is the largest in the world.

The zoo was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in March this year and was also a venue for Anant Ambani’s high-profile pre-wedding festivities last year, which attracted global attention with the participation of singer Rihanna, tech billionaire Mark Zuckerberg, and Ivanka Trump, the second child of U.S. President Donald Trump.

Though not open to the public, Vantara, which calls itself the "world’s biggest wild animal rescue center," has faced criticism from wildlife activists and conservationists regarding the appropriateness of the hot, dry climate for certain species, the Guardian reported.

Mukesh Ambani has a net worth of $104.8 billion at the time of publishing. He is the chairman of conglomerate Reliance Industries which has interests in petrochemicals, oil and gas, telecom, retail, media and financial services.
