The VND540 billion ($23 million) complex covering 36,000 square meters is the first mall built in Vietnam by Thailand’s Central Group after rebranding its mega markets from Big C to GO!.
GO! Thai Nguyen will source 90 percent of its products from within Vietnam. Agriculture produce from around 50 suppliers in the province will be sold at the mega market without charging any fees.
Around 300 businesses have committed to open outlets in the mall, creating jobs for nearly 1,000 locals.
Christian Olofsson, senior director of Central Retail’s real estate department in Vietnam, said that the group chose Thai Nguyen because of its potential for economic development and increasing quality of life.
The group plans to build two more GO! supermarkets in Vietnam this year, he said.
