The consortium comprising six companies made a winning bid of VND6.27 trillion (US$253 million), 4% lower than the tender offer, the Airports Corporation of Vietnam announced Friday.
It is for building an aircraft parking apron in what will be Vietnam’s largest airport.
The only other bidder, a consortium of eight firms led by construction giant Deo Ca Group, was disqualified because one of its members did not pay a fee on time.
Deo Ca petitioned for cancelation of the bidding result, saying the member met the qualification criteria, but the Airports Corporation of Vietnam rejected it.
To spread over 5,000 hectares in the southern province of Dong Nai, the airport will cost around VND336.63 trillion ($13.71 billion).
In its first phase, expected to be completed in 2026, it will have a capacity of 25 million passengers annually.
After two more phases the capacity will rise to 100 million, thrice that of Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat airports in Hanoi and HCMC.
