He is among the representatives of many tech companies in the world who will participate in the government-hosted Innovate Vietnam event on Oct. 1-2, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc said Monday.
"The president of Meta will join the event and announce the company’s long-term commitments in Vietnam."
Clegg joined Facebook in 2018. Before that he had worked at the European Commission and the U.K. Parliament. He had led the Liberal Democrats and served as the Deputy Prime Minister of the U.K.
While Meta has yet to officially confirm Clegg's visit, the company has a history of collaborating with the National Innovation Center to support startups and foster innovation.
The Innovate Vietnam event is set to take place at Hoa Lac, a hub for numerous tech companies. Around 20,000 participants are expected to attend the event.
The event seeks to help global companies better understand Vietnam’s tech development so they can increase partnership with local firms in the future, Ngoc said.
