Apple’s iPhone the best-selling smartphone of all time

Of the 15 best-selling mobile phones of all time, the iPhone 6 claims the third spot with 222 million units in sales, sitting just behind the non-smartphone classics Nokia 1100 and 1110, according to market news website Visual Capitalist.

Furthermore, other iPhone models occupy six more spots on the ranking list.

Recently, Apple has dethroned Samsung as the leading smartphone seller, ending the latter’s 12-year reign, according to CNBC.

In 2023, Apple sold 236.4 million iPhones, surpassing Samsung's sales of 226.6 million units.

This marks the first instance of Apple leading in sales volume though it has always outperformed Samsung in terms of revenues and profits.

To date, Apple's cumulative iPhone sales have exceeded 2.3 billion units. The smartphone boasts over 1.5 billion active users, accounting for 21.67% of the global smartphone-using population, as reported by Demand Sage, a data reporting and analytics solutions provider.
