Comedian Tran Thanh's "Nha Ba Nu" (The House of No Man), the highest-grossing Vietnamese movie of all time, will be released in the U.S. and a few other countries this year.

Thanh, who directed the movie, said it will hit U.S. theaters in California, Texas, Arizona, Utah, Virginia, Kansas and Florida on March 3.

The movie will also open in Australia and Singapore on March 9, and Canada on March 10.

CJ Entertainment, the film’s distributor in Vietnam, will also be responsible for its international release.

On February 17, the movie had grossed VND450 billion ($18.95 million) after 24 days at theaters in Vietnam. It’s currently the highest-grossing Vietnamese movie of all time, surpassing Thanh’s other blockbuster "Bo Gia" (Dad, I’m Sorry)’s VND427 billion.

Many Vietnamese films have been released abroad in recent years.

On March 2019, actress and producer Ngo Thanh Van released her action film "Hai Phuong" (Fury) in the U.S. after a month in Vietnam. The move helped the film gross over VND200 billion.

"Lat Mat 4: Nha Co Khach" (Face Off 4: We Have Guests), a comedy-horror film by director Ly Hai, was also released in the U.S. and Australia in mid-2019, garnering VND120 billion.

In 2021, Thanh's "Bo Gia" entered the top 10 weekly grossing movies in the U.S. and became the first Vietnamese movie to surpass $1 million in revenue there, according to cinema data site Box Office Mojo.

"Nha Ba Nu" tells the story of Nu (played by Le Giang), the owner of a crab soup shop and a stern mother facing the pressure of providing for her family. Due to heartbreaks that she suffered in the past, Nu forbids her youngest romantic daughter, Ngoc Nhi (Uyen An), from having a relationship.

Nhi doesn't listen to her mother but instead dates John (Song Luan), a Vietnamese who lives abroad. The climax comes when Nhi gets pregnant and leaves her family to live with John, but soon realizes that she made the wrong decision.
