The festival, taking place from Sept. 20 to Nov. 11, is a joint event by TikTok and Vietnam Cinema Association, with the aim to spread cinema inspiration to people through a short film making contest.
The hashtag #TikTokFilmFestival2022 has been viewed over 112 million times.
Many short films on TikTok with a big number of views have been submitted to the contest. For instance, "The Gioi Song Song" (Paralell World) by Reency Ngo garnered three million views and more than 250,000 interactions for the story on school violence with a touch of fiction.
Another highly rated short film is "Tai Sao Nguoi Sai Luon La Con" (Why Am I Always Wrong) by Linh Barbie which addressed discrimination among family members, with 1.3 million views on TikTok. Other notable videos included Me Ke Cua Toi (My Step Mother) by Gia Long and Chuyen Di Cua Ba (Dad’s Trip) by GOTAStudio.
The award ceremony will take place on Nov. 11 with the top 40 films selected from the submissions. The winner in each of the five categories will win VND50 million ($2,013). The overall winner will receive a budget to produce their own original series that is worth VND4 billion.
