Pop star Hoang Thuy Linh got emotional Thursday after winning three major categories at the 2023 Dedication Awards, one of the biggest music awards in Vietnam.

Linh, 34, beat other heavy contenders such as My Tam, Toc Tien, Min and Phung Khanh Linh to win "Artist of the Year" award.

"This is an honor," Linh said. "I didn’t think that this dream would come true."

The 34-year-old singer also won in two other important categories including "Album of the Year" for her album "Link" and "Music Video of the Year" for "Gieo Que" (Casting Coins). She thanked her fans, who she said she considered a "wonderful part" of her creativity and artistic style.

Singer Thu Minh said Linh deserves the award because of her dedication to her work. Minh said she believes the award will be a meaningful milestone in her career, encouraging her future development.

Musician Duong Thu said he highly appreciated Linh's music which is welcomed internationally.

This year’s Dedication Music Awards also honored many young artists who made breakthroughs in 2022. Singer Tang Duy Tan won "Song of the Year" for "Ben Tren Tang Lau" (The Floor Above). DTAP won "Producer of the Year" while MONO brought home the award for "Best New Artist."

Hoang Thuy Linh, born in 1988, started her career as an actress. She rose to prominence in 2007 after starring in the sitcom "Nhat Ky Vang Anh." She started her music career in 2010 and achieved moderate success.

Linh was named Best Asian Artist Vietnam at South Korea's 2019 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA 2019).

Music publication Pitchfork gave her album "LINK" a score of 7.2, praising its empowering lyrics and large-scale production.

Videos of international celebrities dancing to Linh's "See Tinh" (See Love) have gone viral in South Korea and China.

The Dedication Awards, organized by The Thao va Van Hoa Newspaper, was established in 2004 and became one of the biggest music awards in Vietnam. The event aims to honor discoveries and works that contribute to the diversity and development of the Vietnamese music scene.
