SEA Games: Vietnam defeat Thailand to win women's football gold medal

The winning goal of Huynh Nhu secured Vietnam the gold medal in the women's football final of SEA Games 31 against Thailand on Saturday, their third gold in a row.

    The only goal by captain Huynh Nhu secured the 1-0 victory of Vietnam over Thailand and brought the gold medal home.

    Once again Duong Thi Van won the ball in the midfield. She made a pass to Nguyen Thi Tuyet Dung to run down and face keeper Boonsing, who couldn't catch the ball cleanly. Tran Thi Thuy Trang got a tap-in but her shot hit the post.

Vietnam have encountered Thailand six times in SEA Games. Both teams have one win each and four draws. So far, Vietnam have won six SEA Games women's football gold medals while Thailand had five.

Each team have only conceded once in this SEA Games.

If Vietnam win the gold medal in this game, it will be their third in three consecutive SEA Games.
