Malaysia are now playing with 10 men, but they got nothing to lose now. Coach Kim Pan-gon put a defender out for a striker.

Malaysia already played two games in group B, winning 1-0 against Myanmar and 5-0 against Laos, while Vietnam played one and got a 6-0 victory over Laos.

Both Vietnam and Malaysia are the favorites to advance in group B, and this game is key in deciding who will take the top spot.

Since Park Hang-seo became Vietnam coach in 2017, the team stayed undefeated against Malaysia in all tournaments.
