Indonesia beat Vietnam in World Cup qualification home game

A clerance mistake caused Vietnam to suffer a 0-1 defeat against Indonesia in the World Cup qualifier Thursday night.

    Indonesia got another win against Vietnam with the only goal scored by Egy Maulana Vikri, from a mistake of Vo Minh Trong. The two teams will play again in five days at Hanoi's My Dinh National Stadium.

With the home advantage, Indonesia aim for a big win against Vietnam in the 2026 World Cup qualifier clash.

Indonesia called up nine naturalized players for this match, including brand new faces.

Meanwhile, Vietnam will have to play without a number of key players due to injuries.

Indonesia's target is to get at least four points against Vietnam in the next two games and take the second place in group F. They are currently at the bottom with one point, same as the Philippines and two points behind Vietnam.

After this match, Vietnam will return home to host Indonesia at My Dinh National Stadium on March 26.
