Vietnam put three past Kuwait in their opening game of group D in the 2024 Asian Cup on Wednesday.

In the U23 Asian Cup match, Vietnam secured a 3-1 victory over Kuwait, with winger Bui Vi Hao scoring twice, propelling Vietnam to the top of Group D.

The match was a rollercoaster, featuring goals, a red card for each team, and intense moments that tested both teams' resolve and skill.

The game began with Vietnam taking the lead thanks to Van Truong's setup for Van Tung, who expertly navigated past the Kuwaiti goalkeeper.

The match's tension escalated with a penalty for Kuwait, leading to an equalizing goal by S. Muhammed. Controversy struck with red cards issued to both teams, leveling the playing field.

Vietnam demonstrated strategic adaptability by making three substitutions at the start of the second half, aiming to strengthen their attack.

This move paid off when Bui Vi Hao exploited a mistake by the Kuwaiti goalkeeper, scoring twice for Vietnam, including a remarkable goal from a tight angle.

Despite Kuwait's efforts, including a long-range shot that hit the woodwork, Vietnam maintained their lead, celebrating a significant win in their opening game.
