Compared to the first leg of the semifinals, Vietnam had a way better game in the second leg. It didn’t take long for the host to open the scoring.
In the third minute, captain Do Hung Dung made a long pass for Nguyen Tien Linh, who beat the defenders to volley it in for Vietnam. The early goal made Vietnam much easier to breathe, especially when Indonesia can’t defend in low blocks anymore.
Chances kept coming for the host, with heated situations occured in between. Indonesia players went hard on the tackles with Vietnam players, especially wing-back Doan Van Hau, who were fouled the most in this game.
The same scenario happened in the second half. Three minutes in, Hung Dung took a corner and the ball again found Tien Linh, who headed it in with power and completed the double.
After conceding the second goal, Indonesia made a few changes to increase firepower, but couldn’t create many relevant chances. Most of their shots were stopped by goalkeeper Dang Van Lam.
The final score is 2-0 and Vietnam advanced to the final, where they will face either Thailand or Malaysia.
