Croatia beat Morocco 2-1 to finish third in World Cup 2022

Croatia opened the score and were quickly caught up by Morocco, before taking the lead again thanks to a marvelous kick by Mislav Orsic.

As expected, Croatia and Morocco gave the spectators an entertaining game on Saturday.

There was no more multi-layer defense as both teams went back and forth right at the start.

Croatia got ahead after seven minutes with a clever free kick routine as Ivan Perisic headed the ball back across goal for Josko Gvardiol to get a diving header and defeat keeper Yassine Bounou.

The lead only lasted two minutes as a free kick bounced of the head of Lovro Majer before finding Achraf Dari, who headed it in from close range.

Three minutes before halftime Croatia scored the winner when Mislav Orsic netted with a curled finish from a narrow angle that went in off the post.

They held the lead through an absorbing, exhausting and goalless second half.

Morocco had a few relevant chances in the second half but couldn’t convert.
