While everyone else was probably busy spending their pre-Tet time shopping and planning for the big holiday, 30 young artists from all over Vietnam put their shoulder to the wheel to finish a large collaborative project showing the beauty of the pig – the zodiac animal of this lunar new year.
These illustrators, animators and graphic designers spent three weeks to depict their imagination of the chubby creature, and name the assembling artworks Beheoce, wordplay of Behance and heo – or pig in Vietnamese.
“This is just a spontaneous idea one of us came up with,” said Hoang Trung, a member of Beheoce. “The whole thing is somewhat both a healthy competition among young local artists – showcasing our best works, and a platform for everyone to understand and respect each other’s style.”
Many artists involved have not met the others in person, yet they found a way to connect and learn from one another through the pig-inspired project. “We hope this multi-artist-portfolio can boost the portfolio of the individuals as well,” Trung added.

This is not the first time these talents assemble for such a group art work. In 2017, some of the Beheoce contributors gathered their drawings for a wonderful collection to celebrate the Year of Rooster.
When asked whether this can become a new tradition, Trung replied with a not-so-sure. “I can't tell, to be honest. We are artists,” he explained, “and artists are very spontaneous.”
