The wedding of Tuyet Nhi and Samuel Lam in New York went viral on social media earlier this week thanks to the lavishness of the celebration as well as the valuable wedding gifts given by both families.
The gown was created by Vietnamese designer Do Long, who said it took over 30 days to complete the work. "I designed the dress based on the bride's likings, which is a gorgeous dress that can turn her into a princess straight out of a fairy tale,” he said. “In addition, the dress can be worn in three different ways.”
The wedding gown is a strapless high-quality Italian satin dress that can be paired with a camisole or a long-sleeved lace top with meticulous embroidery to create different looks.
For the camisole that Tuyet Nhi wore at the ceremony in New York, Do Long used techniques like flower layering, hand embroidery and sequins along chiffon and feather fabrics to create a visual poem.
“All the details were carefully crafted by the team,” Do Long said. “We even cut every single petal to merge them into flowers. It is completed with thousands of sparkling crystals.”
Tuyet Nhi was born and raised in the Mekong Delta Province of An Giang, while the groom, Samuel Lam, is a Chinese-American. The two first met at a coffee shop in Boston when Samuel was studying at Harvard and Nhi was a student at University of Houston.
After five years of dating, the couple tied the knot with a romantic wedding in New York on June 5, 2022.
The wedding ceremony of Nhi and Samuel attracted attention on social networks because of the gifts worth millions of dollars, including gold, money, a house, diamond jewelry, a Mercedes G63 AMG and a condo in New York. The bride's father also donated two ambulances, a charity house and surgeries to the local community at the ceremony.
