Ha Duy said Quynh has a surreal beauty and her story is suitable for the spirit of the collection.
“Quynh Ngo overcame her insecurity of being albino and went through many years of training to become a model,” Duy said. “Porcelain, the inspiration for my collection, also had to go through a 1,000 degree Celcius firing period to look shiny. Both Quynh and porcelain exude purity.”
Quynh wears a strapless A-line dress. The upper body keeps its shape with plastic bars inside while the lower part is made of tulle fabric. The whole look is finished with a touch of fake pearls on the face and body.
All outfits in this collection are white and they are created by using the draping and cascading techniques used on cocktail dresses and high-low party dresses.
Some beaded embroidery designs focus on the upper body or the padded shoulder to create a powerful look.
The collection also embraces the 3D floral dress, which has been a popular fashion trend in recent years.
The team took two days to complete the photoshoot for the collection at a resort. Albinism causes Quynh many difficulties when she takes photos in sunlight. Her skin burns easily and her eyes are also weaker when having direct contact with the sun.
Quynh Ngo, whose full name is Ngo Thuy Quynh, was born in 1998 in Hanoi with albinism. When Quynh turned 22, she released a set of art photographs on social media that received a lot of compliments. After that, she was determined to be a model and completed a model training course.
Ha Duy, 35, is a famous designer of evening gowns. Before starting his brand and opening a showroom in Hanoi, he took part in many fashion designing contests and collaborated with several magazines.
