Photos of her during the state visit to China with her husband, King Maha Vajiralongkorn, have been trending on social media, Thai newspaper Bangkok Post reported, with many applauding her striking beauty and sophisticated, occasionally bold, wardrobe choices.
The Nov. 14–18 trip was the first state visit by a Thai monarch to China since the two countries established diplomatic relations, Reuters reported.
At a reception where the royal couple met Chinese leader Xi Jinping (second from right) and his wife Peng Liyuan (far right), the Thai queen (far left) wore a traditional ensemble: a fitted, high-collared top embroidered with gold motifs and a matching skirt, accessorized with a distinctive box-shaped handbag.
On another occasion she wore an Amarin dress, one of eight royal dresses designed by Queen Sirikit, finished with a diamond brooch bearing the portrait of King Chulalongkorn.
On Nov. 15 the king and queen laid a wreath at the Monument to the People’s Heroes in Beijing’s Tiananmen Square. For the ceremony, Suthida chose a Western-style A-line wrap dress with a defined waist and suede heels.
While visiting the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center, she wore a wrap dress crafted from traditional Thai woven fabric, an outfit that fused Asian and western aesthetics. She completed the look with coordinating pearl jewelry and natural makeup featuring soft shimmer and peach-pink lipstick, which commentators called fresh and youthful.
At another engagement she opted for a minimalist dress with an unconventional structure: a scarf-like wrap around the upper bodice that created visual interest. She paired it with teardrop earrings and pointed-toe shoes.
A black midi dress with a grey ombré bodice, cut from heavy taffeta, was another standout that flatteringly held her silhouette.
Suthida, 47, married Maha Vajiralongkorn, 73, in 2019 and was proclaimed queen three days after his coronation.
She holds a degree in Communication Arts, formerly worked as a flight attendant for Thai Airways and joined the Thai military in 2010. She once led the King’s Royal Security Special Operations Unit and now holds the rank of general.
In diplomatic settings she frequently weaves Thai folk motifs into contemporary designs.
She is also known for her collection of uniquely shaped box handbags, which add a distinctive accent to formal looks.
