Reportedly costing 12 billion rupees (US$144 million) as per The Times of India, the pre-wedding festivities for Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant were held aboard the Celebrity Ascent cruise ship. This cruise commenced a 4,380-kilometer voyage from Italy on May 29 and arrived in the south of France on June 1.
The celebration followed the couple’s earlier pre-wedding events, which occurred from March 1-3 in Jamnagar, India and featured a performance by Barbadian pop and R&B star Rihanna. The Daily Mail reports that the Ambani family paid Rihanna 5 million pounds (US$6.3 million) for her performance. The entire affair reportedly cost 120 million pounds, with 20 million pounds allocated just for catering.
Prominent attendees at the couple’s first pre-wedding bash included Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, and Ivanka Trump, the daughter of former U.S. President Donald Trump.
The couple is set to officially marry in England in July.
Anant Ambani, 28, is the youngest son of Mukesh Ambani, who leads the Reliance Industries conglomerate, which has annual revenues of US$110 billion.
According to a report by Forbes on June 5, Mukesh Ambani’s net worth is estimated at US$112.1 billion, making him the richest person in Asia and the 12th wealthiest globally.
Radhika Merchant, 29, is the daughter of Shri Viren Merchant, CEO of the prominent Indian healthcare company Encore Healthcare.
Both Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant are graduates of universities in the U.S.
