Oanh (R) and her mother-in-law Kim Hoa dropped by Miss Vietnam 2010 Ngoc Han’s store on July 23 to try on the outfits customized for them by the beauty queen, who is now working as a fashion designer. The actress is planning to don three ao dai outfits at her upcoming engagement ceremony.
According to Han, the pair had a lot of fun during the fitting session. Kim Hoa (C) jokingly told Han: “I have gained some weight so I don’t look as good as before in ao dai.”
She added that the reason behind her weight gain was Oanh, who frequently sent her tasty homemade food.
Hoa once said during an interview that her family had welcomed Oanh since the first time Binh brought her home and introduced her as his girlfriend. She considered Oanh a genuine and simple woman. It was Hoa and her husband who urged Binh and Oanh to tie the knot.
From Oanh’s side, the actress said she was happy as she got on well with Hoa and had been receiving support from her.
Oanh was also excited to wear the outfits customized by her close friend on her big day. Among the costumes she tried on was a red ao dai with lotus hand embroidery patterns.
Han told VnExpress: “I’m happy to see Oanh having a modern, open-minded, and loving mother-in-law.”
In her 70s, Hoa is still learning English and other skills everyday, in order to better understand the younger generations.
Oanh also invited actress Quach Thu Phuong, who co-starred as her mother-in-law in the series “Huong Vi Tinh Than” (Taste of Kinship), to the fitting session, as the two got closer after the drama shooting and considered each other mother and daughter in real life.
Phuong said she was happy for Oanh seeing her having found a man to love, to be her company for the rest of her life, and to share everything.
Oanh, 34, admitted to dating Binh, 43, last August, after photos of the couple circulated on social media.
Oanh is a renowned actress and has starred in several TV series. In 2018, she was nominated for the Vietnamese Golden Kite Award for Best Actress.
Binh is the founder of various tech startups, including Nexttech Group of Technopreneurs, which has been dubbed the "Alibaba of Vietnam" by the Chinese media. He joined Shark Tank Vietnam as one of the showcased investors in 2019.
