After 13 years and two children together, dancing queen Khanh Thi and Phan Hien overcame family objections to their age gap and tied the knot at a boisterous, body-moving ceremony in late December.
"I don't ever want to leave your side. Today, I’ve really found my husband," Thi vowed to her protege Hien at the wedding ceremony.
Thi, 41, has been dubbed Vietnam's dancesport queen by the media for her great dancing skills and contributions to the country’s dance scene in the 2000s. She has won many awards throughout her career, including two gold medals when performing with Hien at the 2009 Asian Indoor Games. Hien, 29 was one of the many students she taught. He won three gold medals in dancesport at the 31st SEA Games held in Hanoi earlier last year.
Actress Ngo Thanh Van, 43 married chef Huy Tran, who’s 11 years younger, at a beach wedding in Da Nang in May. Van said that her partner was there every time she needed him, and she has found the right guy after 12 years of loneliness. She promised to love only him, to become a good wife and said she was ready to have children.
Van, aka Veronica Ngo, is a renowned Vietnamese actress, singer and model.
She has appeared in five Hollywood projects, including “The Old Guard” (2020), “Da 5 Bloods” (2021), “Bright” and “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” in 2017, and “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny” in 2016.
In 2019, the movie “Hai Phuong” (Furie), which she produced and starred in, earned more than VND200 billion ($8.5 million) and became the highest-grossing Vietnamese movie of all time.
Huy Tran was born in Germany. He graduated from GPB Berlin, majoring in import and export. In mid-2019, he participated in the TV show Amazing Race Vietnam. Currently, he is the owner of a German restaurant in HCMC.
One of the weddings that attracted media attention is actress Dieu Nhi, 31 and actor Anh Tu, 29. This couple also went through a lot together during their seven-year relationship, as they supported each other’s career and achieved success together. After two years of dating, 2017 Miss Vietnam Do My Linh and businessman Do Vinh Quang tied the knot in December. Linh, 26, said that her decision to get married was because she had met "the right person at the right time".
Quang, 28 is one of the most prominent young entrepreneurs in Vietnam in recent years. He became the president of Hanoi FC at the age of 25, becoming the youngest club president in the history of Vietnamese football. As of December 31, 2021 Quang owns more than 70 million SHB bank shares worth that worth VND1.2 trillion ($50.9 million), ranking 121st among the richest people on the Vietnam stock exchange.
The 2010 Miss Vietnam Ngoc Han married Phu Dat in December, after the wedding was delayed many times due to Covid. It took place with hundreds of guests wearing traditional Vietnamese ao dai tunics, just as Han wanted.
Ngoc Han was born in 1989 in Hanoi. After becoming a beauty queen, she participated in many cultural and charity activities. She currently runs an ao dai store in Hanoi and a chain of men's fashion stores in Northern and Southern Vietnam. Her husband Dat was born in 1990 and he works at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The wedding between singers Phuong Uyen and Thanh Ha garnered media attention because it’s the happy ending to a love story that overcame gender stereotypes. Before Thanh Ha, Phuong Uyen was entangled in rumors of having same sex relationships, but she never responded or confirmed anything. For Thanh Ha, she had already experienced a broken marriage and become a single mother before Phuong Uyen entered her life. Phuong Uyen was born in 1970. Together with her two younger sisters Cam Tu and Ngoc Diep, they founded the band Ba Con Meo (Three Cats). The band was loved by audiences in the 1990s and released a series of hits. In 2001, it disbanded. Phuong Uyen became a music producer and opened a music school.
