The entrance of T1 leading to the airport has been completed, featuring a grass median to create a lush green corridor from the outer area into the terminal zone.
During a meeting with Party General Secretary To Lam on Nov. 13, Vu The Phiet, chairman of the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), which operates 22 out of 23 airports in Vietnam and is a key investor in the Long Thanh International Airport project, said Long Thanh is designed to be Vietnam’s most modern, smart, and environmentally friendly airport, meeting international 5-star standards.
The intersection between T1 and National Highway 51 has been completed, although the Provincial Road 25C project, which connects both sides of Highway 51, is still under construction.
Workers reinforcing the embankments and planting grass near the T1 overpass that links to Highway 51.
“The main construction work is done. We’re now strengthening the slopes and beautifying the area before the opening day,” said a worker named Lan.
The overpass connecting the Bien Hoa–Vung Tau Expressway has already been asphalted, with lighting installed and road markings pending.
On both sides are branch roads that connect T2 to the HCMC–Long Thanh–Dau Giay Expressway between HCMC and Dong Nai Province.
Alongside T1, the T2 route connects from T1 to the Ho Chi Minh City–Long Thanh–Dau Giay Expressway.
The 3.5-kilometer road features four lanes, running parallel to the Bien Hoa–Vung Tau Expressway.
Street lighting and guardrails have been installed along both sides.
The bridge linking T2 to the HCMC–Long Thanh–Dau Giay Expressway has been completed, with only lane markings remaining.
The T2 interchange with the HCMC–Long Thanh–Dau Giay Expressway is nearly complete.
Several bridge components connecting to the Bien Hoa–Vung Tau Expressway are still under construction, with full technical completion expected by Dec. 19.
Part of the T2 interchange, where it intersects the HCMC–Long Thanh–Dau Giay Expressway and the Bien Hoa–Vung Tau Expressway below, is being accelerated to meet the opening date.
This is considered the most complex interchange of the entire project.
The Long Thanh International Airport is set to welcome its first technical flight on Dec. 19 and begin commercial operations in 2026.
As a national key infrastructure project, it is designed to handle 100 million passengers and 5 million tons of cargo annually, with Phase 1 targeting 25 million passengers per year. The total investment is approximately VND336.63 trillion ($16 billion).
