The 99-kilometer Phan Thiet – Dau Giay expressway, which was constructed from September 2020, is set to be completed by April 30.
The VND12.5 trillion ($532.71 million) road is expected to cut commute time from Ho Chi Minh City to Phan Thiet in Binh Thuan Province, home to Phan Thiet, from 5-6 hours to 2 hours.
The expressway is basically completed, with laying asphalt and painting road markings the only two remaining tasks.
Signs have been set up. The expressway allows maximum speed of 120 kph and requires a minimum speed of 60 kph.
A section of the expressway crossing by rubber forests in Cam My District in Dong Nai Province has been laid with asphalt.
A representative of a contractor said that his teams have been meeting deadlines and they will finishi laying asphalt and painting markers on his section by April 10.
Tuan, a worker, said: "It has been hot these days but we still stay on site to complete the project in time for the end of April launch."
Workers build the last drainage system in a section passing through Xuan Loc District in Dong Nai Province.
Some overhead crossings have been built to help local residents get to the other side of the road quickly.
An intersection of the expressway with the National Highway 1 has been basically completed. This is a key intersection of the road.
The Ministry of Transport said that 90% of the expressway is now completed and at current pace the project will be finished on time.
