The "Red Phoenix Flower" luxury train line has 20 brand new cars, including two VIP ones with Indochine designs.
Vietnam Railways said the line would run from Hanoi to Hai Phong and vice versa starting from May 10, in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Hai Phong.
The cars' interior reflects both traditional and modern aesthetics. The seats are similar to those found in coffee shops and restaurants.
The ticket prices for VIP cars are VND250,000 ($9.62) during weekdays, and VND300,000 during weekends. Passengers will be served a drink of their choice during the trip.
A typical car of the line would have 56 seats, with the chairs being able to swivel around. Ticket prices for weekdays are VND150,000, and VND180,000 for the weekends.
Passengers can freely turn chairs around to change the view.
Besides cars with 34 and 56 seats, the line also offers ordinary cars with the standard 64 seats.
Lighting systems inside the cars have lights resembling the red phoenix flower, a symbol of Hai Phong.
The train is equipped with semi-automatic doors up to international standards. Decorations include images of iconic Vietnam destinations.
The overhead baggage storage makes it easy for passengers to store away their belongings.
A trip from Hanoi to Hai Phong on the luxury train would take around two hours.
