Bridge takes shape on route linking HCMC, Long An
With construction resumed a year ago, Long Kieng Bridge on Le Van Luong Street in HCMC’s Nha Be District is set to enter service early next month.
Costing VND589 billion (US$24.7 million) of the state budget, the new bridge is now 98% complete. It runs 318 m long and 15 m wide.
The lighting system on the bridge and leading roads have been established.
Two workers walk on the section for pedestrians. The bridge has only one route for pedestrian stretching 2 m wide.
A group of workers cover the surface of the bridge on Tuesday.
The bridge has eight piers that allow it to stand 5 m above the water level compared to 1.5 m for the former bridge.
Construction is underway for roads leading to the bridge.
Along with new bridge, Le Van Luong Street is expanded to serve the rising traffic demand at the southern gate of HCMC.
