A 132-km coastal road in the central Phu Yen Province is expected to foster socioeconomic development when it is completed in 2027.

The road connects the provinces of Binh Dinh, Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa after starting at National Highway 1D in Song Cau Town of Phu Yen. Around 95 km of it has been built so far.

It runs through the Xuan Dai Gulf, where Phu Yen is soliciting investment in a proposed tourism site that will straddle several beaches.

The An Hai Bridge, spanning 173 m, has a capacity of 30 tons and cost VND40 billion (US$1.7 million) to build. It connects An Ninh Dong and An Hai communes over the O Loan Marsh and was the first build-operate-transfer project in Phu Yen.

Province authorities are seeking funding from the government to build a 14.2-km road connecting Tuy An District and Tuy Hoa Town at a cost of VND3.43 trillion.

It will be 42 m wide and is expected to attract investment in coastal, especially tourism, projects. Its construction is expected to be completed in 2027.

The section running through the Nguyen Huu Tho-Doc Lap traffic intersection in Tuy Hoa Town has the Nghinh Phong Tower, a popular tourist attraction.

Phu Yen used 26 ha of coastal land and spent VND400 billion to build a marine park for public use, according to the province Management Board for Investment and Construction.

Several other works like parks and pedestrians-only streets are also proposed to be built.

The section in Dong Hoa Town used to be a shrimp farm location. The road is 42 m wide, has six lanes and allows vehicles to traverse at 90 kph.

The Da Nong Bridge goes over the Ban Thach River spans 484 m and is an important transport link connecting the Hoa Hiep Industrial Park with Vung Ro Port in Dong Hoa Town.

Nguyen Phuong Dong, director of the Department of Transport, said the rocks have been at the same place for 20 years and there is no risk of them falling on the road below.

The end point of the road links up with the Deo Ca Tunnel bordering Khanh Hoa. The section runs through the Vung Ro Gulf.
