Vietnam entered the first day of the men's individual aerobics with Phan The Gia Hien, who competed against competitors from Thailand, Cambodia and the Philippines.
Gia Hien performed last, but he knew his competitors' scores were low, so he was confident and pulled off difficult moves.
Hien scored 19,450 points and won the gold medal. Behind him were Thailand's Chanokpon with the silver at 18,433 points, and Cambodia's Has Sokhon, who took bronze with 18,200 points.
In the women's individual aerobics, Vietnam's Tran Ha Vi also faced off against competitors from Thailand, the Philippines and Cambodia.
Vi leaped in the air during her performance.
At last year’s SEA Games 31, Vietnam won three golds in aerobics, while Thailand won the other two golds.
Vi scored 18,366 points for the gold medal. Following her were Thailand's Chawisa Intakul with 17,716 points, winning silver, and the Philippines's Charmain Dolar, who won bronze.
Vi hugs her coach following her gold medal win.
"I feel like I'm on cloud nine and bursting with happiness," Vi said, adding that she managed to overcome her anxiety after some unsuccessful world tournament performances preceding this year’s SEA Games.
In the trio category, Vietnam's Hoang Gia Bao, Le Hoang Phong and Nguyen Che Thanh competed against teams from Thailand, Cambodia and the Philippines.
Vietnam won the gold medal with 19,267 points, followed by Thailand at 18,022 points and Cambodia with 17,584 points.
