The Gia Lam Gymnasium in Hanoi, with a capacity of 2,500, will host the wrestling matches from May 17-19.
This place has also been a regular venue for many national and international volleyball tournaments, like the Asian Women’s Volleyball Championship in 2019.
Besides the competition space, the makeover of the warm-up house, training center and the entrance are basically done.
The Hoai Duc Gymnasium, Hanoi, with a capacity of 4,000 will be the venue for Judo and Kurash contests.
Besides a renovated lighting system, the floor has been redone, reinforced with concrete and carpeted to ensure safety of the competition.
The equipment and seats in the VIP area have all been replaced, and standard large LED screen added.
Inside the gymnasium, work on some areas including the podium is not yet complete. However, organizers are confident that the renovations will be done in time.
A banner is being erected outside the entrance to the My Dinh National Stadium. This is the venue for the May 12 SEA Games 31 opening ceremony.
The My Dinh Stadium, first built to serve the 2003 SEA Games, is said to have deteriorated over the years.
In September 2021, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism worked with the General Department of Physical Education and Sports, Vietnam Football Federation and the management board of My Dinh Stadium to renovate the grass surface and functional rooms such as press conference and monitoring rooms. Many other renovation works in the stadium are yet to be completed.
The My Dinh Stadium will host the semi-finals and finals of SEA Games football contest. In the group stage, the teams will compete at Viet Tri Stadium in Phu Tho Province and Thien Truong Stadium in Nam Dinh. The stadium will also host a series of track and field events.
The atmosphere of the SEA Games 31 has begun to spill out on to the streets in Hanoi, where 18 competitions are to be held at 15 locations.
The SEA Games 31 will take place May 12- 23 in Hanoi and 11 northern provinces: Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Ha Nam, Hai Duong, Hai Phong, Hoa Binh, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Phu Tho, Quang Ninh and Vinh Phuc. Contestants will compete in 40 sports with 520 categories.
Vietnam's target is to top the medals table and to defend the men's and women's football gold medal.
