Since early morning, the children's race-kit booth for the Kun Marathon inside the April 2 Square has been crowded. The race kit is separated into five sections by age category, each of which corresponds to one color, for the convenience of the organizers. Nearly 20 volunteers assisted in the verification of information and helped with the distribution of bibs, clothing, and other goods.
Volunteers scanned QR codes, which were emailed to successful subscribers earlier. It only took a few seconds to complete the verification procedure. The organizers then handed them the Bib, a race kit that included a shirt, a hat, a bag, and Kun's milk.
Many parents and children were excited while waiting. On August 10, many who came to acquire Bibs were residents in Nha Trang and the neighboring area. They were aware of the Kun Marathon last year, but many did not register. This year's application was announced earlier than usual, giving them more time to consider and prepare.
Bao said that he could not participate last year because of late registration. This year, he has been anxious for weeks before receiving his Bib. Bao's mother says she gives her son more than an hour to play football every day.
"Lionel Messi is Bao Bao's idol, he really loves football. That is why he is very dynamic. I hope Kun Marathon will give him a chance to challenge himself," said Ly, Bao's mom.
Tran Hien Nhi (R) and her family caught an early train from Quang Ngai to Nha Trang and received Bibs for 7 children in her family. Nhi said that they had participated in the Kun Marathon many times. "The tournament is an opportunity for them to exercise and challenge themselves. This will be a beautiful memory when they grow up, helping them to be more confident and stronger," Nhi said.
Phan Tieu Ky (L), 9, is participating in the Kun Marathon for the second time. Hoang Ly, her mother, said that Kun Marathon has been the topic discussed the most in the family in recent weeks. Ly helped her daughter prepare carefully, from nutrition to training and equipment. "After last year's tournament, Ky is much more confident and no longer afraid to communicate. We will create conditions for her to participate in more races in the future," Ly said.
This year, Kun Marathon equips young runners with beautiful ombre colors. Shirt colors are divided by age group. The 6-year-olds wear red, the 7-year-olds blue, the 8-year-olds yellow, the 9-year-olds purple, and the 10-year-olds green.
