10,000 coast past Hanoi icons in midnight run

Blessed by good weather conditions, around 10,000 runners participating in the VnExpress Marathon Hanoi Midnight ran past iconic landmarks in the capital city as they completed the race Sunday morning.

The VM Hanoi Midnight started out from Dinh Tien Hoang Street at the stroke of midnight on Saturday.

The final VnExpress Marathon event of the year offered prizes totaling VND1.5 billion (US$60,560). Those who finished the races got different medal string colors depending on the distance: 5, 10, 21 and 42 km.

The 42-km race started at the Hoan Kiem Lake with runners going past Trang Tien Street and the Hanoi Opera House minutes later.
