According to The Manila Times, Megaworld’s executives presented the keys to Carlos on Wednesday for the fully-furnished three-bedroom unit, which spans 100 square meters and is valued at 32 million peso (US$558,000).
The condo boasts modern amenities including a parking lot, home appliances, and stylish furniture. It features a contemporary interior design with clean lines, neutral tones, and gold accents reflecting Carlos’ Olympic success.
The unit includes advanced home appliances like a refrigerator, microwave oven, a cooktop with oven, washing and drying machines, smart televisions, and a game console.
A unique artwork, depicting Carlos’ silhouette from three leaves representing his Olympic victories, was also prepared. This artwork symbolizes Carlos’ significant contributions to Philippine sports and the national pride he inspires.
The condo also features two balconies with township views, a custom-made coffee table with a replica of the Paris 2024 Olympic gold medal, and a flexible dining area designed for gatherings.
An entertainment room with a custom daybed adds personalized touches for Carlos’ enjoyment.
Additionally, Carlos received a 3 million peso check from Megaworld.
At 24, Carlos is celebrated as the most successful Filipino gymnast ever, according to Forbes. He is the second Filipino to win an Olympic gold and the first to win multiple golds.
In addition to the McKinley Hill condo, he will receive numerous honors from the Philippine government and businesses, including cash and lifetime supplies of free buffets, baked mac and cheese, and chicken inasal from various chain restaurants.
Carlos’ Olympic homecoming celebration occurred on Tuesday, with thousands of residents coming out to welcome him and other athletes.
However, according to the South China Morning Post, some believe that his Olympic achievements are overshadowed by a publicized feud with his mother, Angelica Poquiz Yulo, concerning financial disputes and her criticisms of his girlfriend, content creator Chloe San Jose.
