Readers of Asia’s leading luxury travel magazine DestinAsian have voted 10 best city hotels in Vietnam based on friendliness, staff service, convenient location, modern facilities and quality of dining options.

Standing on Le Phung Hieu Street in Hanoi's Old Quarter, Capella Hanoi topped the list.

The hotel has 47 rooms and suites, each individually styled with operatic artifacts and custom portraiture that pay tribute to legendary Opera artists, composers, designers and performances.

A night's stay costs $380 per person.

Last year, South Korean girl group Blackpink stayed in the hotel's luxury rooms costing up to VND30 million (US$1,260) a weekend night during their first-ever shows in Vietnam on July 29-30.

InterContinental Hanoi Westlake came in second.

Located peacefully next to West Lake, the largest natural freshwater body in the capital city, the hotel is about 4 km from tourist attractions such as Thang Long Water Puppet Theater and Fine Arts Museum.

Rooms at the hotel are wood-paneled with private balcony overlooking the West Lake.

Park Hyatt Saigon, which ranked third on the list, offers views of the iconic Opera House, 100 meters from Dong Khoi Street in downtown Ho Chi Minh City.

From the hotel, visitors can walk to the Notre Dame Cathedral, Saigon Central Post Office, Independence Palace and about 20 minutes by car from Tan Son Nhat airport.

It features a 20-meter swimming pool and restaurants serving Asian and European cuisine and a bar where afternoon tea is served.

Room rates cost from VND16 million.

Opened in 1901, Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi hotel is located in the capital's Old Quarter and is known as a miniature Paris in the heart of Hanoi. It came in fourth.

The hotel has 364 rooms carrying features of French architecture.

It is home to a two-meter-high wartime bomb shelter discovered by chance in 2011. It was where many famous figures of the Vietnam War, including actress Jane Fonda and author Tom Hayden, both anti-war activists, took refugee as bombs rained down on Hanoi.

Le Meridien Saigon on HCMC's Ton Duc Thang Street across the banks of the Saigon River stood at fifth position. It has 340 rooms with river views, enabling guests to view the Saigon River from the room windows.

It has a rooftop lounge on the 22nd floor of the hotel from where you can enjoy the bustling nightlife of the city.

Sheraton Saigon Hotel & Towers on HCMC's Dong Khoi Street came in sixth.

The hotel features 485 rooms and suites that offer views of Dong Khoi, one of the city's busiest tourist streets lined with an array of shopping centers, restaurants and hotels.

Its rooftop bar on the 23rd floor provides a wide range of wines from all regions of the world and a large selection of international beers and cocktails and offers views of the Saigon River.

Hotel Des Arts Saigon Mgallery Collection on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street in HCMC's District 3 came in seventh.

Opened in 2015, the hotel has a total 168 rooms and a bar lounge on the 23rd floor praised by foreign tourists for its fantastic views.

Carrying French colonial architecture, the rooftop bar lies next to a swimming pool and serves guests different kinds of cocktails.

Located on the prime location near tourist landmarks in HCMC's downtown District 1, Caravelle Saigon ranked eighth on the list.

Opening its doors on Christmas Eve in 1959, the hotel has over 300 rooms.

It’s not too far from popular tourist attractions like the Opera House, Notre Dame Cathedral, Nguyen Hue pedestrian street and Ben Thanh Market.

Rooms cost from VND5.3 million a night.

At ninth position is Lotte Hotel Hanoi located on the corner of Lieu Giai Street and Dao Tan Street of the capital city. It offers modern accommodations with an outdoor and indoor swimming pool, fitness center, sauna and free on-site parking.

The hotel is 1.8 km from Vietnam Museum of Ethnology, 2.2 km from the One-Pillar Pagoda and 20 km from Noi Bai International Airport.

Room rates start from VND3.1 million.

The nine-story Hotel de L’Opera Hanoi MGallery rounded out the top 10.

It has over 100 rooms with views of Hanoi’s Old Quarter.

The list was part of DestinAsian’s 17th annual Readers’ Choice Awards based on a poll of voters conducted between August and November 2023.
