Visitors on the first day of the Oktoberfest in Hanoi on Sept. 26.
According to the German Business Association, which organizes the event in Vietnam, this year's Oktoberfest is scheduled to take place in three cities: from Sept. 26 to 29 in Hanoi, on Oct. 4 in Da Nang, and from Oct. 10 to 12 in Ho Chi Minh City.
The main Oktoberfest festival began on Sept. 21 in Munich, Germany, and will run for 16 days.
Attendees receive wristbands, granting them access to all the festival’s activities in Hanoi.
One of the key highlights is the opportunity to enjoy fresh Bavarian beer, a specialty of the region.
Oktoberfest dates back over 200 years, first celebrated in 1810 in Munich to commemorate the marriage of Crown Prince Ludwig of Bavaria to Princess Therese of Saxony.
At the festival, guests can either select their beer from a display area or have it poured by the staff.
In addition to beer, attendees can indulge in popular German delicacies such as sausages, Brezel (pretzels), and cold cuts.
One of the highlights of this year’s event was the performance by O’zapft musical band with members from Germany and Austria, known for playing iconic Oktoberfest tunes like "Bierstube Tanz" and "What Makes You Beautiful".
Oktoberfest has been celebrated in Vietnam since 1992, providing an opportunity for people to enjoy great beer, and savor traditional German specialties.
A family from Hanoi's Ba Dinh District, who had previously attended the festival in Germany, joined the event in Vietnam for the first time.
"The scale here is smaller than in Munich, but the atmosphere in Hanoi is much more exciting compared to other cities in Germany," Bang, a family member, said.
The festival also draws a significant number of international visitors.
Tony (L), a Russian enjoying Oktoberfest in Hanoi for the first time with his friends, was impressed by the festival's atmosphere.
"The vibe here is fantastic, from the food to the music," he said.
