The pedestrian zone, which runs from the foot of the Dragon Bridge and APEC Park to Tran Thi Ly Bridge, is 1.2 km long, providing tourists with night-time experiences.
It would be the first pedestrian street in Da Nang, connecting night-time service via Nguyen Van Troi pedestrian bridge, the city's oldest which was built during the 1960s.
To make the pedestrian zone, city authorities renovated the sidewalks to create an underground infrastructure system, including electric lines.
Some sections have been renovated to plant flowers and bonsai. Previously, the area did not have many green trees.
The zone is estimated to cost VND13 billion (US$510,000).
A welcome gate with Da Nang written on it.
On Thursday, before the opening day, local authorities blocked the road from Binh Minh 10 Street to Bach Dang intersection to ensure safety.
The zone will be open from 3 p.m. to midnight daily.
There will be art performances on the opening night.
Food stalls are available along the pedestrian zone to serve tourists.
