Over 800 Indian tourists enjoy boat rides in northern Vietnam

833 Indian tourists of the Sun Pharmaceutical Industries visited Trang An after their trip in Hanoi, around two hours away. The group was split into smaller groups, each with 45-50 people.

The group of tourists are among 4,500 employees of Sun Pharmaceutical Industries coming to Vietnam from Aug. 26.

The company's owner Dilip Shanghvi is the fifth richest individual in India and 13th richest in Asia. Forbes estimated the tycoon's net worth at $29.9 billion as of Aug. 28.

Due to the large number of visitors, the Ninh Binh Department of Tourism arranged a separate path for them to get to the dock, preventing congestion.

210 boats were deployed to help transport the Indian tourists.

Boats carried the tourists at the Trang An scenic landscape complex on Sao Khe River in three hours.

Viki, who lives in Gujarat, said he was impressed by the clean and tranquil river, surrounded by great mountain ranges.

Shubh Singh, another tourist from the group, said he had an interesting experience in Trang An and that the natural scenes were impressive. What he loved most was the hospitality of the people.

"Our group has had wonderful memories in Vietnam," he said.

Sharma, another tourist, said that by 2 p.m. his group still could not come to the restaurant for lunch as several people did not return to the collection point on time.

Sharma said a boat tour on the river is a must-have experience for anyone coming to Ninh Binh, and that there are no scenery in India similar to what's in Trang An.

Mammen James, a manager of Sun Pharma, said the tourists appreciated their welcome in Vietnam. After the trip ended, he believed employees of the firm will return to Vietnam with their families. James said his family would also come to Da Nang after this trip.

After leaving Trang An, the tourists had lunch at the Trang An 5 restaurant and was served an Indian buffet, including dishes like paneer, bhindi masala and sambar.

A tourist from the group said they wanted to eat Indian food as most people in the group were vegetarians.

After their trip in Trang An, the Indian tourists would return to Hanoi to visit Ha Long Bay next on Thursday.
