The café at No. 60, Alley 64, Nguyen Luong Bang Street, opened in June with a nostalgic theme centered on vinyl records, cassette tapes and other vintage audio equipment. Spread over two floors, it offers both indoor and outdoor seating areas.
On the ground floor, a shelf brims with vinyl albums spanning everything from classical to contemporary music. Nearby a music table has vintage cassette decks, amplifiers and speakers surrounded by brick walls bathed in yellow light.
A wire mesh wall hung with guitars, keyboards and other instruments gives the place a studio-like vibe. Large side windows flood the interior with natural light, brightening the dark-toned décor and making it a popular spot for drinks, conversation, remote work, and photo ops.
Originally a second-hand shop for music enthusiasts, Nau Café was transformed by its owner's passion for analog music and desire to bring that culture to younger generations.
Vinyl listening sessions take place from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday.
The vinyl shelf and music setup form the café's most photo worthy corner, often so crowded during peak hours that customers line up for their turn for photos.
Viral videos on social media have helped keep the place bustling throughout the week, with weekends reaching full capacity.
Tapes and CDs are stored in square boxes organized by genre, such as rock, pop, rap, and more. This helps visitors browse easily.
A wooden shelf displays vintage cassette players from brands like Sony, Aiwa and Sanyo, all well preserved for enthusiasts of classic tech.
Pham Ngoc Chau, 17, of Ha Dong Ward visited for the first time after seeing it online.
"I came at 9 a.m. to avoid the crowds and got plenty of nice photos," she says.
Each table upstairs has its own cassette player, and customers can choose a tape, plug in headphones and listen. Staff are available to assist those unfamiliar with the controls.
