Global fashion brand luxury Louis Vuitton has opened a restaurant and café complex in Ratchaprasong, one of Bangkok's most popular entertainment and shopping precincts, marking its first cuisine presence in Southeast Asia.
The façade of LV The Place Bangkok is decorated with the logo of the fashion brand and giant diamond shapes that glow at night.
The main area of the complex is Gaggan restaurant located on the second floor run by Indian chef Gaggan Anand.
The restaurant has a dress code – slippers, beach sandals and flip-flops are prohibited, and male guests should not wear sleeveless attire, shorts or open shoes. It allows only guests over the age of 12.
The restaurant's space is decorated with luxury amenities such as walls punctuated with resin structures by designers Draga & Aurel.
There are 10 Italian marble tables paired with beautifully upholstered benches and chairs. In addition, there are also Monogram flower lamps, and fringed curtains.
Customers can book a private dining room with a full pre-payment of the minimum of THB100,000 (US$2,790) they must spend.
If the total spend does not exceed THB100,000, no refund will be provided and the restaurant only accepts bookings for up to six people, according to the restaurant's website.
An eight-course lunch costs THB4,000 while an all-out of a 17-course dinner is THB8,000. Wine pairing starts at THB3,500.
Chef Gaggan will demonstrate and instruct diners how to enjoy their food. The dishes are all prepared based on five-star restaurant standards.
Le Café Louis Vuitton on the first floor is a space combined with green trees that evoke a cozy atmosphere.
The cafe displays many chests painted with images of Wat Arun, Bangkok's famous temple, and the Eiffel Tower, the symbol of France, demonstrating the cooperation between the two cultures.
The café serves drinks such as iced honey lemon tea, blueberry lavender fizz, mango sticky rice fizz, cha Thai latte and matcha latte, with prices starting from THB280.
