The checkered floor and louvered doors have been retained to connect the new look with the bar's half-century history.
According to a Caravelle spokesperson, the louvered doors evoke tropical architecture, making them well-suited for open spaces and HCMC's climate, while the tiles preserve the familiar feel of this landmark.
But the rooftop building that served as the helipad is now blocked from view by a high-rise building (the blue glass building).
The counter is in the middle of the bar.
The menu also retains historical drinks such as the Miss Saigon cocktail (pictured).
British magazine Time Out once recommended that visitors should experience the place by "imagining you are a war correspondent in the 1960s," and drinking an ice-cold Saigon Special beer or a Miss Saigon cocktail.
Briton Louis, 65, visited the bar with his wife on Oct. 2.
After researching the venue's history beforehand, they made sure to visit it during their stay in Ho Chi Minh city.
"I am quite surprised that the bar has changed almost completely but still retains a sense of nostalgia in its atmosphere and documentary photographs," he said.
Ngoc Tu (R), a HCMC resident, visited the bar with her friends on hearing that it had reopened.
This is the regular monthly meeting spot for her and her group of friends.
She thought the new place is harmoniously arranged and the overall experience is well worth the prices.
But she pointed to the fact it lacks air conditioning, making it quite hot given HCMC's weather.
Saigon Saigon Rooftop Bar is open daily from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m.
The bar serves cocktails, beers, and a variety of other beverages at prices ranging from VND200,000 - 700,000 (US$8 - $27).
It features live music every evening, making it an ideal spot for watching the sunset and then the city lights at night.
In 2024, it received the Winner of Flavors Award in the food and beverage category.
