In the heart of Da Lat City's Tuyen Lam Lake National Tourist Area lies a series of abandoned villas, bearing witness to wasted potential and lost allure.

These villas, once part of two prestigious resort tourism projects encompassing over 105 hectares, reside in the eastern expanse of Tuyen Lam Lake National Tourist Area, within Ward 3.

The origin of these villas traces back to 2006 when the initial investment in the first phase, totaling nearly VND400 billion (US$16.36 million), led to the construction of 15 villas featuring a blend of Asian and European architecture.

However, after their completion over a four-year span, these villas fell into a state of disrepair and abandonment.

A house presents a rough exterior, with grass reaching heights that surpass an average person's head, and many construction components show signs of deterioration.

The villas are divided into two clusters, with some buildings showing signs of exterior completion.

The front facades of these villas have become canvas for graffiti, while the roofs, stained by the elements, have lost their luster.

The second-floor balcony of one of the villas is covered in moss and has stagnant water that has gone untreated for several days.

The interior walls now display amateur artistry in the form of graffiti, while the floors are strewn with sand and soil.

In 2021, the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee granted approval to another enterprise to take over and resume the implementation of these projects.

By May 2023, the Lam Dong Department of Planning and Investment had urged businesses to assess forest resources, meet financial obligations, and prepare reforestation plans as part of the investor adjustment process.

There is no official record indicating that the investor has ceased project implementation.

Despite this, the entrance to the villa clusters is guarded but unattended.

The Tuyen Lam Lake tourism site was recognized as the first national tourism site in 2017. Encompassing over 29,000 hectares, it extends across Ward 3 and Ward 4 in Da Lat City and partially in the Duc Trong District.

This vast area has attracted 39 investors who have committed a combined capital of VND9,600 billion ($392.6 million), resulting in 15 active projects and 24 others currently in progress.
